We have drawn together experts in the field of diabetes, molecular medicine and computational modelling in order to achieve the objectives of this project. Over the next four years we will undertake extensive research and development to create the TIGER database and populate this with genetic, environmental and physiological data.


In order to achieve our objectives we will undertake a series of work packages:

  • Creation of the TIGER repository

  • Systems biology modelling, data fusion and network analysis

  • Experimental validation and effects of metabolic perturbations and therapeutic interventions

  • In vivo pancreatic beta cell pathophysiology

  • Stratified diagnosis and treatment of diabetes in well-phenotyped patient donors

  • Project Management

  • Dissemination, training, communication and exploitation activities
